CERTIFICATIONS

The BMV group promotes superior service under continuous improvement. The group meets the international quality, safety and environmental standards in order to control, generalise and develop their approach. The combination of these three components of the company lead to a working environment which is pleasant, profitable and durable.

I - QUALITE

A-    ISO 9001/2008

ISO 9001BMV has been certified to 9001 since 1997.

The ISO9001 standard is an international standard listing the requirements for a quality management system.

The application of a Quality Management System according to ISO 9001 consists of :

  • Showing the capacity to consistently supply a product or service which meets both the customer's and legal requirements.
  • Looking for ways to improve customer satisfaction through effective application of the management system but also through a process of continuous improvement.

At BMV the QMS is based on 3 types of process:

  • Operational or realisation processes (covering our sales, groupage, door to door, freight, international and handling)
  • Support processes (RH, Equipment, IT and subcontracting)
  • Management processes to organise the QMS

Every process is managed through performance indicators and objectives determined by the Managing Director and instigated locally by the managers of the agencies.

The certification scope covers the whole group for a period of 3 years with follow up audits every year.

The audits are carried out through sampling.

Our Certification body is the AFNOR

 B - CERTIPHARM

Certipharm

This certificate recognises adherence to the specific requirements of the pharmaceutical industry for transporting medicines.

The standard is based on best practice in distributing medicines and lists the requirements for transporting the health products in complete safety, meeting the requirements of the supplier.

We first establish a list of requirements specification with the expeditor. Specific safety and segregation measures are taken as part of the activity. These are referred to in the BMV QMS under the 'Transport of Medicaments' process. BMV has had its own certificate since 2009, being previously covered by the France Express network.

All the BMV group agencies are certified for the express and door to door activities.

 C - LIVE ANIMALS

The authorisation has been given by the DDP (Direction Départementale de Protection des Populations)

It is valid for transporting live animals for a maximum of 8h between communities and for 12 hours for France. The authorisation came from the Rhone DDP (the department where the headquarters are situated). It concerns correspondents and agents from the France Express network and SERNAM (Annecy, Annemasse, Auxerre, Bayonne, Besancon, Chambery, Albertville, Pau, Sens and St Etienne).

The objective is to ensure the welfare of live animals during transportation.

In particular we have to ensure the following:

  • Designate a trained correspondent available 24/7
  • Refer a veterinary surgeon
  • Identify a specific sheltered transit area for live animals
  • Possess a watering kit for live animals etc.

D - OEA

AEO

The EU has sought to strengthen the security of the international supply chain and to this end has introduced the idea of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)

The AEO status is recognised throughout the EU as a way of identifying the most reliable operators according to the principal of quality labelling.

In the long term it will form the basis for customs simplification and will be essential for exporters especially if they have authorisations from customs procedures.

The AEO status is recognised internationally as a mark of prestige for the company concerned, but also as a sign of a trustworthy company when dealing with French and foreign administrations.

It is a competitive advantage in international terms which a company cannot afford to ignore. The customers already take it into account as an indicator of reliability and speed in terms of lean management and 140 French and 2000 European companies have obtained this status.

The AEO label can be chosen at 3 levels:

  • AEO « simplified customs clearance »;
  • AEO « Safety and security»;
  • AEO « simplified customs clearance & Safety and security » which combines the first 2 levels

The BMV group is already certified « simplified customs clearance » and working towards reaching the next level;

II - SAFETY

A - SQAS

SQAS

The SQAS standard is designed to ensure the safety of material, people and the environment when handling and transporting dangerous products.

The standard is based on quality, safety, hygiene and environmental considerations and concerns over 500 items (of which 360 are applicable to us)

The SQAS assessment is carried out by site (minimum 2 days) and is based on full compliance. Every item is noted 0 or 1 (only if 100% conformance is achieved for the item)

The auditors are accredited by the CEFIC (Conseil Européen des Fédérations de l’Industrie Chimique) of which there are 3 in France.

The Rungis agency, part of the BMV group was assessed in September 2010 following a customer request. The subsequent report is available to members of the CEFIC. The score was 71% unless there is a specific request the certification is valid for 3 years.

Very few transport companies have passed this assessment. So our certification is a big competitive advantage when replying to request for quote from the large movers of the chemical industry

B - NORME ISO 28001

iso 28001

The BMV group is currently being certified to ISO 28001.

It is a security management system across the whole of the supply chain. The certification is given by AFNOR and has several objectives :

  • Use rationalised procedures to improve capacity such as: identification and traceability of goods, stock control, recruitment, qualification et specialisation of personnel.
  • Improve targeting of checks carried out by national authorities
  • Increase customer confidence along with deregulation
  • Ensure continuous flow between the handling and transport operations

III - ENVIRONNEMENT

A - CARBON FOOTPRINT

Bilan Carbone

The BMV group carried out a carbon footprint assessment at the beginning of 2010. It consisted of an audit recognised by the ADEME (Agence de l’Environnement et de la Maitrise de l’Energie) establishing carbon emissions from both operational activities and buildings.

The carbon footprint assessment has the objective of evaluating the company’s impact on the environment, at a given time. Any company and activity has consequences for the environment which can be evaluated and controlled.

The method allows us to convert every activity into equivalent CO2 enabling us to use a standard measure for every activity. In this way we obtain the CO2 equivalent for:

  • Employees travel as part of their work.
  • Visitors travelling
  • Fuel and other supplies consumed
  • Buildings
  • Managing waste
  • Transport and handling

B - THE ISO 14001 STANDARD

ISO 14001 applies to the environmental aspects over which BMV has control. It doesn't impose specific environmental performance parameters.

The 14001 standard is based on continuous improvement principals in terms of environmental performance through controlling environmental impacts. It ensures a structured environmental management system as well as traceability. BMV is committed to both continuous improvement and meeting legislative requirements.

It ensures traceability in the management system which is validated by an external accredited certification body.

The standard is based on 4 principals

  • Plan
  • Do
  • Check
  • Act

It engages the company in a programme of reducing pollution and continuous improvement. It requires communication processes to stakeholders within and outside the company, preventive actions to avoid incidents and actions plans if incidents occur. The BMV group is at present certified to level 2 out of 3 to the ISO14001 standard. The dynamics resulting from both 14001 and the carbon footprint assessments indicates a responsible approach to corporate governance. The idea is that thanks to the methods we have in place, BMV shows that every action has a consequence which needs to be taken into account when implementing processes, in a managed, useful effective and durable manner.
